In the 1700s, this area of Boston was a granary, where wheat and other grains were stored and sold at low prices to the needy. Once you’ve completed your tour of the building, head southeast down Park Street to visit the Park Street Church. There are guided tours available of the building, or you can ask for a self-guided tour brochure and explore the building at your own pace. Visitors must enter through the General Hooker Entrance and pass through a security check point. The New State House is open on weekdays for tours. The main entrance is known as the General Hooker Entrance, as visitors must walk past the equestrian statue of General Joseph Hooker, who had served in the Civil War.ĭespite the building being more than two centuries, it is referred to as the New State House, helping to avoid confusion with the Old State House, which you’ll visit later along the Freedom Trail. The ornate entrance below the golden dome is only used for very special occasions – like visiting presidents or for the Massachusetts governor to use at the end of his term in office. There are two entrances to the Massachusetts State House. This is the marker that indicate the path of the Freedom Trail – simply follow the red brick trail through the streets of Boston. These red bricks will be your friend throughout the walk, as they indicate the path of the Freedom Trail. Leading away from the entrance to the Visitor Information Center, you’ll notice red bricks forming a trail along the sidewalk and curving north toward the Massachusetts State Building. And they definitely aren’t equipped to swear Junior Rangers in once the book is complete – that is only doable at Faneuil Hall or at the U.S.S. Ranger Program, they may or may not have those booklets. You’ll be able to pick up a map of the Freedom Trail, but if you’re planning to do the Jr. The Visitor Information Center is a small gift shop on the east side of Boston Common. If possible, take the T (or metro) or a bus to one of the stops on the east side of Boston Common. There is adequate parking below the park, but you may end up paying upwards of $50 for a full day of parking. The Boston Common, similar to New York City’s Central Park, is likely the easiest place to start. However, it is easier to start at one end and walk the 2.5 miles to the other end. While there are many sites scattered throughout Boston, visitors are welcome to visit them as their schedule allows. Visitors to the Freedom Trail are not required to start at one end and finish at the other.

I had been inside that building and went to a different part of my base to gather my dew collector water. I had torn down the building they spawned in except for the floor and had rebuilt my crafting area over it. I had the sleeper soldiers and hazmat zombies respawn inside Fort Razor. It happened a 2nd time in the same location, but a new game save as I started clean after b317. I was able to get a screen shot of the console showing these were sleepers and not a wandering horde. Base had been cleared and I have been doing allot of removing and new construction. I had increased the size in the settings to 51 so it included the whole base. I had moved the claim block to better center it in the base from it's first location. I had the green border up as I tend to leave it on while I am building. I am not sure if this is where they were all located as I was looking in a storage chest when I first realized what was going on. I checked and my claim block was 100%. I had torn down most of the the buildings and other structures, but there was one remaining. I had the soldier and hazmat sleeper zombies respawned when I logged in. I logged on inside my base, which does have a claim block and bedroll. I restarted after b317 using the same random gen map in single player.įirst instance in b313: I was on day 11 on and set up base inside of a Fort Razor location. I have had this happen twice in 2 different games. Please do not rely solely on the information provided on this website. I cooked a risotto with fresh grated carrots and diced zucchini and squash. And, I also offered some small gorgonzola crackers which gave a real unique twist to each bite. Instead of cornbread with this pot of red beans I decided to do baked French baguettes. Using a nice cut of meat in the beans stretches the treat from maybe serving one or two people to serving six to eight with the beans as the superstar protein. They’re pretty, plus when you season them well and let them cook over several hours you get this rich thick mahogany gravy that’s just lusciously delicious! And, this recipe for red beans and shredded lamb steak is one that will make want that second and third bowl! Small red beans are just down right amazingly flavorful. Only cooking beans stovetop do this for me. Yes, you can do beans in a slow cooker or pressure cooker, but I’ve not found a way to get the broth into a gravy like texture. And, you must check your beans more often to see if you need to add liquid. You have to be patient when cooking beans. Most beans are going to cook stovetop in about one to three hours. How to Cook Red BeansĬooking red beans is basically very similar, almost the same, as cooking any hearty type of bean, pinto, anasazi, lima, navy, great northern. You want to make sure they’re really clean before you start slicing. Leeks tend to have dirt hidden between the layers of the stalks. Peel off a few outer layers and keep washing them under running water. Sometimes the green stalks can become ‘leathery’ and tough.Ĭlean leeks is really important. And, use the green stalk only if they’re pliable and tender. You can use both the white and green parts in your cooking. And, their taste is similar to an onion, but it’s a much more subtle mild and delicate flavor. If you’ve never cooked with leeks or tried them, you’re in for a treat! Leeks look like big green onions. I’ve used beef shanks, pork shanks, bone in pork chops, different cuts of steak and veal and now I’m using lamb steak. I think cooking the meat right in the beans not only adds flavor but it infuses the meat with the subtle nuance flavors of the beans. These red beans and shredded lamb steak are no exception. They don’t last long around our house especially with a good cake of crispy thin cornbread. And, this recipe is one that’s perfect for those steaks. If you’re not in the mood for a whole leg of lamb, then check out lamb steak. They’re tender and delicious and can be pan seared for about two minutes on each side for a rare to medium rare finish. Other cuts of lamb include, rum, leg, shank and neck. Lamb steak like I used in this recipe is perfect for cooking with the beans and then when done, you simply shred the meat into the beans. This cut of lamb comes from the waist of the lamb. And, you’re guaranteed tender delicious meat. Lamb chops and rack of lamb are really popular. Conversely, because the shoulder part works so hard, it’s tougher, so this cut is best for stewing and slow cooking. Shoulders are hard-working parts of the lamb, so this cut of meat is full of flavor. Lamb cuts are similar to beef and pork cuts. And, these flavors ooze into this red beans and shredded lamb steak recipe! Lamb Cuts I mean V8 juice was the world’s very first smoothie! All of these ingredients create a truly unique flavor. You’ve got carrots, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce, watercress and spinach. Of course, tomato juice is in V8 juice, but it’s more than that. I love cooking with V8 juice! It’s perfect for packing in more flavor and nutrients. Lamb that are raised in pastures have proven better taste and nutritional quality of the meat. If you’re looking for a flavorful alternative to other red meats, then try pasture-raised lamb. Red beans and shredded lamb steak is a meal in a bowl! And, wait until you see what we boost nutrition with in this recipe! Wowzee! Healthy Meats Biologists tend to agree that this snake could reach lengths of around 30 feet. The reticulated python does, however, hold the record for the world’s longest snake living today. They’re not the heaviest either – anacondas claim that title at over 500 pounds. "I'm pretty sure it happens every year," Greene said. How do we measure the biggest snake? Reticulated pythons are not the longest snake to have ever lived – the extinct Titanoboa currently takes that trophy at over 42’ long. Usually, he said, we don't hear about people being eaten because pythons rarely leave a carcass as a trace. Greene, an emeritus professor in Cornell's Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, said the case of Akbar is special because there's video evidence of his body being pulled from the snake. Most often, they were able to escape by using a knife or a shotgun. Among the nearly 60 hunter-gatherers interviewed, more than a quarter had been attacked by a python and had the bites and scars to prove it. The study found it was pretty common for humans to be attacked by reticulated pythons. Once, a python went into a thatched house, killed two children and was swallowing one of them when the father came home and killed the snake with a bolo knife. Headland, Greene found reticulated pythons killed at least six Filipino hunter-gatherers from 1934 to 1973. Over the course of about an hour, Greene estimates, the snake would walk its teeth over a person's body until it is completely inside the animal's stomach.Ī person's body would be digested by the snake's stomach acid, Greene said.Īkbar's death, noted Greene, isn't the first one. Also, a python's lower jaw comes apart, allowing it to further open up. Pythons can swallow humans because their lower jaw is indirectly attached to their skull, allowing it to expand. "They certainly can pack a huge force as they're constricting." "Big pythons are incredibly powerful animals with huge muscles to both move and eat and constrict," said Stephen Ressel, a professor at the College of Atlantic. From one or all of those reasons, he said, a person would quickly die. Then, Greene said, "literally within a few seconds," it would wrap its powerful coils around a person's body, cutting off blood circulation to the brain, blocking off airways and preventing the chest from expanding. On Thursday, CBS reported villagers said Akbar was attacked from behind. The python stealthily lies in wait along a game trail, edges of waterways or any other place where they would find unsuspecting prey. A startled snake could bite as a form of defense 2. Pythons bite first and would attack a human in two ways: 1. Pythons often eat primates, including monkeys, sometimes orangutans and, seldom, people. The Guinness World Records notes a reticulated python named Medusa, which lives in Kansas City, Mo., holds the title as the world's largest snake ever in captivity at over 25-feet long. Humans, unfortunately, fit into the general, mammal-heavy diet of the reticulated python, which can grow between 20 and 25 feet long. There are, he said, examples of people being eaten by reticulated pythons, particularly on Sulawesi, the island where 25-year-old Akbar Salubiro was eaten. It's a rare occurrence for that part of the world, but not unheard of, Greene said. Such a nightmare occurred earlier this week, when a 23-foot reticulated python swallowed whole an Indonesian farmer. "It wouldn't take very long and it would be awful." "It would be extremely difficult for me to save my life without help," Greene said. Thomas Adams, the Witte's Curator of Paleontology. "Each dinosaur in the exhibit is displayed in an environment reflecting the geography, geology, and flora of the period in which it lived," said Dr. "The exhibition features the dinosaurs that lived in what is now Texas 100 million years ago. "Very realistic, very scary, but lots of stuff in there that you can learn from too, the fossils that tie everything together. Philanthropist Susan Naylor, who underwrote the exhibition, says she's never seen anything like it. You can even participate in augmented reality videos where you fight a charging dinosaur. This isn't a static display of reconstruction dinosaurs, this is a realistic animatronic exhibition where the dinos walk, roar, and even fight other dinosaurs. "Why are they so astonishingly real, and in that way, a little bit frightening," Witte CEO Marise McDermott asked. Prey, Dinosaurs in the Land Before Texas' at the Mays Family Center at the Witte. With a roar and a squeak, the Witte tomorrow opens 'Predators vs. They were only too excited to help themselves to select their favourite gem stones to take home with them – reasonably priced, ten gem stones for $5 and placed them in the provided plastic bags. The Witte Museum is known for its dinosaurs, the museum even has dino tracks running across the front of the building on Broadway.īut News Radio 1200 WOAI reports you have never seen dinosaurs like this. The souvenir shop has lots to cater for the young and old, my girls found what they wanted when they noticed a huge box filled with gem stones. The museum also offers a wide variety of activities, where you have the opportunity to touch genuine dinosaur bones, real meteorite and much more. I loved their added special touch with the animatronics, it put a smile on our faces when the dinosaurs came to life when you walk past and triggered the sensors. The museum has an array of full skeletons, fossils with accompanied information or an overview of the history near each display and of course more life-sized models of dinosaurs arranged magnificently in a diorama style but on a large scale of course to have a clear vision of what they looked like and their habitats. You do get your money’s worth as you could easily spend over three hours of your time to take in their impressive exhibition with lots to see, read and fully appreciate individual displays. Upon payment we were issued dinosaur stamp on the back of our hand, it is proof of payment should you want to go elsewhere to grab something to eat and then return later. The museum is opened 7-days a week from 10am to 5pm and costs are at an affordable price – we paid $45 for family (free for under 4-year-olds). I only went there because my family put the pressure on me and I was outnumbered. I reluctantly visited this museum only to surprise myself with the excitement that was hidden within. Lots of photo opportunities outside and inside too. You can’t miss this place as there are a plethora of life-sized models of dinosaurs displayed outside as well as a cute park with a secure gate allocated for the little ones to play and enjoy. It is approximately 15 minutes traveling distance from Canberra’s CBD, located in Gold Creek Village – Nicholls with plenty of free parking available. On the whole, well worth a visit.ĭefinitely a remarkable place for the young and old regardless what you think of dinosaurs. There’s lots you can buy in the gift shop, and there’s a cafe as well. There went the afternoon! We enjoyed the games and reading area too, puzzles and books, activities such as colouring in sheets, documentaries on the screen. And a prize for each of them was a small shark tooth, and a model dinosaur to take home and put together. What the kids most loved were the huge Life-Sized dinosaurs, several of which have a motion sensor which when activated, causes the dinosaurs to move, and roar! If the kids aren’t prepared, it’s quite scary, and even our ones, who knew about it, were still nervous! The four year old though, the most scared, eventually developed enough courage to race past the roaring Dino inside several times as a sort of dare! Your entry entitles the kids to complete a seek and find hunt for answers within the museum. There’s tables and chairs outside too, so its easy to bring lunch or snacks to have there. It’s quite expensive to go in, but you could honestly spend several hours there, both inside and out. We took our three Canberra grandchildren to the Dinosaur Museum, although they’d been quite a few times before. “In the beginning, we intended to create the Gear Watch Designer as a utility program to help developers. The Gear S2 maximizes customization, so that users can directly configure its hardware or software, and edit functions according to their tastes.īut as we progressed, the general consensus was that it would be better to make a designer-oriented program,” said Young Jae Min, Senior Designer of the UX team.Īs a result, the team developed the Gear Watch Designer to allow designers to better express themselves, even if they lacked development expertise. And the Gear Watch Designer only enhances these customization features yet further. With the program, you can easily add and arrange calendar, heart rate or daily fitness information directly to the watch face, for example. You can also fully express yourself by customizing the index, hour hand, minute hand and second hand in the colors and styles just as you desire, all the while checking to ensure the designs function properly as you edit them. It has only been a short few months since the Gear Watch Designer was launched as a beta version, in December last year on the Samsung Developers website. However, a number of users have already since shared their own unique watch face creations with the Gear Watch Designer’s online community. “In the beginning, we intended to make the program simple. However, over the course of its development, it has become more complex as the team has diversified its ideas,” said Moo Chang Kim, Senior Engineer of the Tizen R&D Team. This rather unique development process, in which the team constantly and collectively brainstorms and shares ideas, has allowed the Gear Watch Designer to advance consistently and in a multitude of ways. “It was a refreshing and novel experience to be able to share ideas between multiple departments in pursuit of a single goal.” “It has been interesting to gradually expand this project by incorporating our ideas,” explained Hyung Jo Yoon, Senior Engineer of the Tizen R&D Team. Sample watch faces made with the Gear Watch Designer. While anyone can use the Gear Watch Designer to make their own watch face, graphic designers in particular can let their creativity run wild by using their own images as part of the program. As such, the team focused on making the Gear Watch Designer as user-friendly as possible so that designers could use it with great ease. However, as the developers were not all designers themselves, they explain that they found it difficult to find flaws and limitations in the program before they actually launched the beta version. “We then proceeded to hold contests internally, through which we were able to improve the tool based on employee feedback.” “We actively encouraged designers to start use the program when it reached the 60-70 percent completion mark,” explained Sang Min Jung, Senior Engineer of the Tizen R&D Team. Thanks to feedback and regular inter-departmental brainstorming sessions, the Gear Watch Designer soon developed into a more complete experience.Īs a result, the program now boasts a number of familiar tools specifically aimed at designers, such as animation functions and graphic interfaces. |
